How to get your computer number?

Pilot’s life is a very exciting and a glamorous one. They have a lot of perks in their life, like staying in 5 star hotels, travelling to new places, free tickets and a lot more. But, what we have missed is the journey of becoming a pilot; it’s exactly opposite of what is being perceived as. Read this blog to get a glimpse of the pilot journey.

In a pilot’s journey, there are a lot of rules and steps you need to go though. The first step, after deciding to become a pilot, is Issuing your Computer Number. Computer number is a number (P-XXXXXXXX) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation which is necessary to be issued to sit for your pilot examinations. In this blog, we will learn the process of applying for a new computer number. Without any delay, let’s start with learning the process.

The first thing is, you need to visit https://pariksha.dgca.gov.in/home and click on New Candidate Registration.

Click on New Candidate Registration

You will be directed to the instructions page. After reading through the instructions, accept the terms and click on submit.

Now, you will be directed to next page for filling the personal details.

Note:
a. Name, DOB (date of birth), Father’s name and Mother’s Name (if mentioned on the certificate) should be as per class X Pass Certificate/ Mark sheet only.
b. OTP verification will be done for Mobile number (+91 is only accepted).
c. An activation link will be sent to your email.
d. Generate Password
e. Click submit.
f. If Permanent address is other than India, Security clearance form (Annexure-A) to be duly filled and upload the same in “Document To Be Uploaded” section.

After submitting your personal details, you have to go to the home page of Pariksha and login again with the same details by clicking on Candidate Login. Fill up the rest of the required details and click OK.

Post that, you will be directed to the next page “Flight Crew Registration Module” page, where they will ask basic aviation experience details which is required for the setting up your details on DGCA portal.

A few important notes:

· Passport photo: Dimensions are 35mmx45mm without borders, White Background and 70% of the photo should be covered with your Face, Matt finish, JPG/JPEG format. Max size is 70kb.

· Signature: Dimensions are 20mm x 45mm without borders, Background should be white. JPG/JPEG format. Max size is 20kb. Signature Uploaded and signature on a physical copy of the application must be same.

· Name: The name will be accepted as mentioned in 10th Std. Mark Sheet Matriculation certificate.

· Board Verification Certificate (BVC): If BVC is addressed to FTO, then attestation of CFI is required. If BVC is addressed to the candidate, self-attestation is required. If BVC is addressed to the CEO (DGCA), then original BVC has to be sent to the CEO.

· While sending documents for issuing a Computer Number, they should be self-attested.

· Ground Training Institute: Enter the name of the institute where your ground training has been accomplished. (Not the coaching academies).

· Do you have AIU/ equivalent education qualification certificate: select “Yes

(Note: AIU (Association of Indian universities certificate) is must when candidate possesses equivalent qualification from foreign universities situated in India or Abroad.)

· For PPL students, they require 10th standard’s Marksheets and Passing Certificate only and for CPL/ATPL, you need 10th and 12th standard’s Marksheets and Passing Certificate.

After answering all 11 required data fields, click on Next. You will see all the required documents to be uploaded. Click here to see the required documents. Make sure, all the documents are within the required size only. Computer might accept the upload, but DGCA might reject your application due to smaller/bigger in size.

After uploading all the documents, you will see the summary of all the filled in details. If there are any changes required, this is the time to fix it and then proceed to the next step. Try sending application with the most appropriate information.

After submitting the form, you will get a temporary computer number.

On successfully submission, a pdf with filled information also will be created and automatically downloaded on applicant’s computer system. The same pdf will be sent to the registered email ID as well.

After online submission of documents, you have to take a print of this application and attach his latest passport size photograph (the same one as uploaded) in the space provided and cross attest the photograph. Attach all relevant uploaded documents and send it to DGCA within 10 days, or else your application will get rejected automatically.

Only after reading about every step, fill in information as requested. If they are asking you to upload any document or a photograph, before uploading, read about the requirements, i.e., the size of the file, dimension, photo type etc. It will take about 20–30 days for the computer number to get issued.

Once you have sent your documents, now all you have to do is start your preparation for the pilot examinations. You have finally taken off on the flight of becoming a pilot. Do not let yourself go loose at any stage; complete each stage carefully.
